General information, not medical advice

What the articles on this site can and can't do for you.

Last updated

Diabaté Aider publishes a Knowledge Base and a blog about diabetes. Both are written to be accurate and useful, and both are general information — not a diagnosis, not a prescription, and not a substitute for care from a professional who knows your history.

What this site is

The articles here are educational. They're compiled from published clinical and public-health sources, each article lists the sources it was built from, and they're reviewed by CDE Mehandi Sharma, a nutritionist and certified diabetes educator. Our editorial policy sets out how they're written and checked.

What this site is not

  • Not a diagnosis. Nothing you read here can tell you whether you have diabetes, which type you have, or what your results mean. Only testing and a clinician can do that.
  • Not a prescription. Articles describe how medicines are generally used. They are not instructions to start, stop, or change a dose. Do that only on the advice of the doctor who prescribed it.
  • Not personalized. Targets, portions and routines differ by person — by pregnancy, kidney function, other conditions, and much else. General guidance can't account for yours.
  • Not an emergency service. Messages here are not monitored around the clock.

Consultations

A consultation with Diabaté Aider is diabetes education and medical nutrition therapy. It works alongside the care of your treating doctor — it doesn't replace it, and it doesn't include prescribing. Keep taking medicines as your doctor has advised, and keep your regular appointments.

Currency of information

Guidance changes. Each article carries the date it was last reviewed, and older articles may not reflect the most recent recommendations. Where a page and your clinician disagree, follow your clinician.

External links

Articles link to outside organisations as sources. We don't control those pages and aren't responsible for their content.
